A friend of mine was changing her bulbs out to LED and had asked me, "What's the difference between warm and cool bulbs? Which do I want for my home?". Well, the answer is that it's all personal preference. To help you to have a better understanding, imagine a color scale ranging from yellow to blue. Yellow being warmer and the closer you get to blue, the cooler. Color temperature is measured in Kelvins so the more Kelvins the bluer the light, which resembles daylight. Warm bulbs tend to be the preferred choice among homeowners. And yes, it's okay to mix them if you like an overall warm feeling but like your task light to be a bit more like daylight and vice versa. It's all about setting the mood! Here's a great chart to refer to from Westinghouse Lighting. Click link here.
